1.2 On-Device Processing Only

All transcription and AI summarization processing happens entirely on your device using:

  • Apple's Speech Recognition Framework: For live and file transcription
  • Apple Intelligence (iOS 26+): For AI-powered text summarization
  • Local Storage: All data is stored only in your device's local storage

No audio, text, or any other data is ever sent to our servers or any third-party services. We do not operate any servers or cloud infrastructure for data processing.

2. Data Storage and Security

2.1 Local Storage

All your transcriptions, audio recordings, and AI-generated summaries are stored exclusively on your device in the app's sandboxed storage area. This data is:

  • Protected by iOS security mechanisms
  • Encrypted when your device is locked (iOS encryption)
  • Only accessible by you through the Scribr app
  • Automatically included in your device backups (iCloud or iTunes) if enabled

2.2 Data Deletion

You have complete control over your data. You can:

  • Delete individual transcriptions at any time
  • Delete all app data by uninstalling the app from your device
  • Manage app data through iOS Settings

3. Permissions

3.1 Microphone Access

Scribr requires microphone access to record audio for live transcription. This permission is:

  • Requested only when you attempt to use live transcription
  • Used exclusively for recording audio on your device
  • Never used to transmit audio to any external service
  • Controlled by you through iOS Settings

3.2 Speech Recognition

Scribr uses Apple's on-device Speech Recognition framework, which:

  • Processes all audio locally on your device
  • Does not send audio to Apple's servers
  • Requires iOS's Speech Recognition permission
  • Is subject to Apple's privacy policies for on-device processing

3.3 File Access

When you choose to transcribe an audio or video file, Scribr requests access only to the specific file you select. The file is:

  • Processed entirely on your device
  • Never copied or transmitted elsewhere
  • Accessed with your explicit permission each time

4. Apple Intelligence

Scribr leverages Apple Intelligence (available on iOS 26 and later) for AI-powered text summarization. This processing:

  • Occurs entirely on your device
  • Uses Apple's on-device AI models
  • Does not send your text to any server (Apple's or ours)
  • Is subject to Apple's privacy policies for on-device AI
  • Does not create any profile or use your data for model training

5. Third-Party Services

Scribr does not integrate with any third-party services, analytics platforms, or advertising networks. We do not share your data with anyone because we don't collect or have access to it.

6. Children's Privacy

Scribr does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13 (or 16 in Europe). The app can be used safely by users of all ages, as all processing happens on-device with no data collection.

7. International Users

Since Scribr processes all data locally on your device and does not transmit any data to servers, there are no international data transfer concerns. Your data stays on your device, regardless of your location.

8. Your Rights

Because we don't collect, store, or process your data on our servers, you have complete control over your information:
